About NeoReceipt
Updated July 2026
NeoReceipt turns a pile of receipts into tax-ready deductions. Snap or forward a receipt and our AI reads the details, then sorts it into the right IRS Schedule C category so your business expenses are tracked all year and ready at tax time.
Why we built it
Most freelancers and 1099 contractors lose real money at tax time, not because they overspend, but because their receipts get lost and their deductions go unclaimed. The tools that promised to fix this grew bloated, expensive, and pushed people toward filing upsells. We wanted something simpler: capture the receipt, categorize it correctly, and let you export clean records whenever you need them.
What we believe
- One honest price. No per-seat fees and no charge to get your own data out.
- Your data is yours. Export a clean CSV or download everything any time.
- No bank connection required. You stay in control of what you add.
- Clarity over clutter. A tool you can actually use in a few seconds.
How NeoReceipt works
- Capture. Snap a photo, upload a PDF, forward a receipt email, or connect your Gmail, Outlook, or any IMAP inbox so receipts import automatically, including the cash, Venmo, and Zelle spending that bank-feed apps never see.
- Categorize. The AI reads the merchant, date, tax, and every line item, then assigns the correct IRS Schedule C category. Change it with one tap if you disagree.
- Track and export. Your deduction totals build by category all year, alongside mileage and income, and you can export a clean CSV, Excel file, or PDF report, or a ZIP of every receipt image, whenever you need it.
What you can do with NeoReceipt
- Scan receipts and pull out line items automatically
- Auto-import from Gmail, Outlook, or any IMAP inbox
- Track business mileage at the IRS standard rate and log income
- Export to CSV, Excel, or a PDF tax report for your accountant
- Use our free tax calculators and deduction guides to plan ahead
Who it is for
Rideshare and delivery drivers, designers, photographers, consultants, real estate agents, online sellers, content creators, tradespeople, travel nurses, Airbnb hosts, personal trainers, and anyone who files a Schedule C and would rather not spend tax season digging through a shoebox of receipts.
Who writes our tax content
Our guides, calculators, and deduction lists are written and maintained by Howard Minsky, Content Manager at NeoReceipt, who oversees the tax content on this site. The goal is plain-English explanations a freelancer can actually act on, not jargon.
Our editorial standards
- Sourced from the IRS. Figures like the standard mileage rate, the self-employment tax rate, and Schedule C categories are drawn from official IRS guidance for the current tax year.
- Kept current. We revise the guides each tax year and when the IRS updates a rule or a figure, and every article shows when it was last updated.
- Written to be verifiable. We explain the reasoning behind each number so you can check it, rather than asking you to take a figure on faith.
- Not a substitute for advice. This is general educational content, not individual tax, legal, or accounting advice. For your specific situation, confirm with a qualified CPA or Enrolled Agent.
Our approach to your data
You do not have to connect a bank account to use NeoReceipt, so you decide exactly what goes in. Your receipts and records are yours: export them in a standard format any time, and delete them whenever you want. We do not sell your data, and there is no charge to get it back out. Payments are handled by our merchant of record, Dodo Payments, so your card details never touch our servers.
