Every way to find your Target receipt
1. Online orders (Target.com or the app)
- Sign in to Target.com or open the Target app.
- Open Orders (Purchase history) from your account.
- Select the order and choose View or print receipt / order details.
2. In-store digital receipts (Target Circle / Wallet / RedCard)
- If you scanned your Target Circle barcode in the Wallet, or paid with a RedCard or Target Circle Card, the trip is saved to your account.
- Open the Target app, go to your account and Purchases, and select the in-store trip to view its digital receipt.
Scanning your Circle barcode at checkout is the easiest way to keep every in-store receipt in your account automatically.
3. At Guest Services (card lookup)
- If the purchase was not linked to your account, visit Guest Services at the store.
- Provide the card you used and the purchase date so they can look up the transaction.
- They can reprint the receipt or process a card-based return within the return window.
Why some Target receipts are saved and others are not
Target stores an in-store receipt digitally only when the purchase is tied to your account, by scanning your Target Circle barcode, or by paying with a RedCard or Target Circle Card. Those trips appear in Purchases in the app.
If you paid with an unlinked card or cash and did not scan Circle, the receipt is not in your account, and you would use Guest Services or keep the paper slip.
Returns with or without the receipt
Target can often look up a purchase for a return using the original payment card, your Target Circle account, or the barcode on a digital or paper receipt, within the return window.
For the smoothest return, open the digital receipt in the app and show its barcode, or bring the card you used and a photo ID.
Keeping Target receipts for taxes
If a Target purchase is a business expense, the itemized receipt is what the IRS expects, not just a card charge. The app's digital receipt shows each item and tax.
Because Target trips mix household and business items, capture the receipt and flag the business lines when you shop, so deductible spending is recorded and categorized rather than lost in your purchase history.
